pear and gorgonzola salad

This is a riff on a salad I make from the Joy of Cooking.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups leafy green and red lettuces ( baby mixed greens work well)
  • 1 - red anjou pear
  • 1/4 - c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 - scallion chopped
  • - pinch red pepper
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1/4 c - crumbled gorgonzola

How To Make pear and gorgonzola salad

  • Step 1
    Make dressing ahead of time using ingredients from cider vinegar. Shake in a jar. keep in fridge. you can even make it the day before. It's better that way.
  • Step 2
    Just before serving. Mix greens and sliced pears with dressing and top with walnuts. Serve immediately. you will not need all the dressing but it keeps for several days..
