this is a great fruit salad it is good for you and the kids love it very much

    bananas (fully ripe, flecked with brown), slice on the bias
  • ·
    juice from 1 orange
  • 5 medium
    oranges, peeled and sliced
  • 3 c
    frozen pineapple chunks, drained
  • 2 c
    white seedless grapes, or halved grapes, seeded
  • 1 can(s)
    syrup from pineapple chunks
  • 1 1/4 c
    coconut, flaked
  • 1 bottle
    (7 oz) ginger ale (optional)
  • 1/2 c
    maraschino cherries

How to Make Layered Fruit Salad


  1. coat banana slices in orange juice.
  2. lay half of banana slices in a large bowl, covering the bottom.
  3. place a layer of oranges over bananas. repeat with pineapple and grapes.
  4. sprinkle with half of the coconut. repeat layers of fruit.
  5. pour reserved pineapple syrup over all, chill thoroughly.
  6. at serving time, pour ginger ale over all layers.
  7. sprinkle with remaining coconut and dot with whole maraschino cherries.
