Ingredients For layered fruit salad

  • 2
    bananas (fully ripe, flecked with brown), slice on the bias
  • juice from 1 orange
  • 5 md
    oranges, peeled and sliced
  • 3 c
    frozen pineapple chunks, drained
  • 2 c
    white seedless grapes, or halved grapes, seeded
  • 1 can
    syrup from pineapple chunks
  • 1 1/4 c
    coconut, flaked
  • 1 bottle
    (7 oz) ginger ale (optional)
  • 1/2 c
    maraschino cherries

How To Make layered fruit salad

  • 1
    coat banana slices in orange juice.
  • 2
    lay half of banana slices in a large bowl, covering the bottom.
  • 3
    place a layer of oranges over bananas. repeat with pineapple and grapes.
  • 4
    sprinkle with half of the coconut. repeat layers of fruit.
  • 5
    pour reserved pineapple syrup over all, chill thoroughly.
  • 6
    at serving time, pour ginger ale over all layers.
  • 7
    sprinkle with remaining coconut and dot with whole maraschino cherries.
