a good way to get the little ones to eat their fruit. (Country Woman magazine recipe that I have tweaked for my family's taste.)

prep time 10 Min
cook time 5 Min
method ---
yield 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 can pineapple tidbits (20 ounce can), drained
  • 1 can manderin oranges,(11 ounce can) drained
  • 1 - medium tart green apple, chopped
  • 1 - medium red apple, chopped
  • 1 cup each seedless red and green grapes, halved

How To Make a is for apple salad

  • Step 1
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in orange juice until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in orange extract. Cool.
  • Step 2
In a large serving bowl, combine the pineapple, oranges, apples and grapes. Add dressing; stir gently. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Yield: 6 servings.
  • Step 3
Note: Before serving, I add some chopped pecans and sliced bananas. A sprinkle of coconut and a few maraschino cheeries over the top is pretty.
