This really IS laundry detergent -- it's not food. Friends of mine wanted to cheapen their grocery bill AND eliminate some of the allergic reactions to the sale-of-the-week detergents, so they researched how to make their own laundry detergent. For whatever reason, Dial and Dove don't seem to work very well. . .

Ingredients
- 3 gallons hot water
- 1/2 cup washing soda
- 1/2 cup borax
- 1 - bar of soap
How To Make laundry detergent

Step 1Mix water, washing soda, and Borax in a 5-gallon bucket.

Step 2In a 2-quart pan, shred bar of soap. Fill with water. Heat, but don't boil, until soap is dissolved.

Step 3Add to 5-gallon bucket. Mix and let sit overnight until cool.

Step 4Use one cup per load, or as appropriate.
