I got this recipe from a self sufficient class at church. Have been using it this year and it is really wonderful. I do not need to buy softener either or use bleach. It gets the clothes very clean and makes them nice smelling..

1 box borax
1 box washing soda
1 package fels naptha-grated
1 large 5 gallon plastic container with lid

How To Make laundry detergent

Step 1

I pour the borax and washing soda in the 5 gallon plastic container and then grate up the bar of Fels Naptha..it looks like grated cheese so watch out..!!

Step 2

Just mix it all up together and use 1/2 cup in each load.
Step 3

I just buy more supplies each time i go to the store and add it to the container..it stays full..
Step 4

The brand name for the washing soda is BAKING SODA WASHING SODA. Do not confuse with just baking soda that we all use for cooking, this is different..will find all three ingredients in the laundry detergent isle...
