the german tale of the christmas spider
I am making these this year for a decoration on the presents to each person in my family. Each year I make a different souvenir from our gene pool. This year it is German. She will be placed amonst some tinsel and a bow. She is made as an ornament for a Christmas/Yule tree. This way each year my kids get a piece of our family heritage. The spider also makes a good addition to a halloween tree as you can see here.

How To Make the german tale of the christmas spider
-
Step 1one long pin to attach the body together and loop at top to hold string two pearl beads of different sizes. two gold filigree bead holders of different sizes (bigger for the front of the body, smaller for the butt) 1 gold string to place the ornament from it's bottom 40 tiny circle black beads (joints of the legs) 32 small long gold beads (Leg pieces) alternate with above round beads. make 4 double legs and wrap around at space between body and head to make 8 legs. Mount from head to bottom and then attach legs.
-
Step 2It is assembled on a wire pin. It has a very small flat end on a straight wire. The flat end becomes the nose or at least on the face end and then you put the small face and the bigger body on and twist a loop closing. Then you make 4 wires of double legs and close the ends like feet (loops) The 4 legs are put half on each side between the face and body and twisted to opposite side under belly. then shape your legs and you are done.
-
Step 3I use small enough wire for the legs so you can get the tiny pearl beeds on. Unsure of guage as I have had the beads and wire for years without using it until now. The wire is I think regular jewery wire as I got it from my dad. The what they call a jewery pin is thicker and golden in color.
