Place aluminum foil in bottom rack of oven to catch drippings. Heat oven to 400*
First wash your dutch oven in hot soapy water and a scrub brush as clean as you can get it!
Then dry completely. Slather with a good coat of crisco pure vegetable oil inside and outside.
Place dutch oven in oven upside down for 1 hour.
turn oven off and let dutch oven cool to room tempurature.
Repeat vegetable oil and cooking if not shiney black yet!
This particular Dutch oven I planned on doing 3 rounds in the oven, however I was able to save her with only 2 rounds!
And the Hubby didn't have to pay for a new one!!
NOTE- DO NOT LET YOUR HUSBAND USE YOUR CAST IRON FOR MECHANICAL STUFF!!!!
