A near death experience for my poor dutch oven (thanks to hubby!) brought back from the brink of death by Me!!
Ingredients For almost dead dutch oven saved!!!
1 mddutch oven
2-4 Tbspcrisco all vegetable shortening
How To Make almost dead dutch oven saved!!!
1Place aluminum foil in bottom rack of oven to catch drippings. Heat oven to 400* First wash your dutch oven in hot soapy water and a scrub brush as clean as you can get it!
2Then dry completely. Slather with a good coat of crisco pure vegetable oil inside and outside. Place dutch oven in oven upside down for 1 hour.
3turn oven off and let dutch oven cool to room tempurature. Repeat vegetable oil and cooking if not shiney black yet!
4This particular Dutch oven I planned on doing 3 rounds in the oven, however I was able to save her with only 2 rounds! And the Hubby didn't have to pay for a new one!! NOTE- DO NOT LET YOUR HUSBAND USE YOUR CAST IRON FOR MECHANICAL STUFF!!!!
