soothing antiseptic skin spray
I'm the president of a nonprofit humane education organization which, among other things, promotes responsible dog ownership and natural pet care. I make this recipe primarily for my dogs, but it's good for people, too! Essential oils are useful for much more than aromatherapy. After one of my dogs had a tumor removed, the veterinarian was pleased to see how this mixture helped the incision to heal quickly without infection. One note: this recipe is safe for dogs, but not for cats -- most essential oils should not be used on our feline friends.

How To Make soothing antiseptic skin spray
-
Step 1NOTE: This formula is for external use only on mild abrasions, rashes, insect stings, etc., and is not meant to treat serious wounds, nor is it intended to replace proper veterinary or medical care. Always consult your veterinarian (for pets) or doctor (for people) for serious wounds or injuries. Do not spray in eyes. As with any topical natural remedy, if skin irritation or allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian or doctor.
-
Step 2Prepare tea and allow to cool to room temperature. It is preferable to use filtered or spring water.
-
Step 3In glass or plastic bowl, combine essential oils and extracts. Stir in the vegetable glycerin.
-
Step 4Pour glycerin mixture into chamomile tea and stir well, or pour into a large glass or plastic container and shake well.
-
Step 5Pour some of the mixture into the spray bottle and keep in a cool place out of direct light (or refrigerate if desired -- it makes a nice refreshing spritz on a hot day!). Pour the remaining mixture into the glass or plastic bottle or jar and store it in the refrigerator, refilling the spray bottle as needed.
-
Step 6To use, shake well and spray lightly on affected area.
