Good on a cold winter day! Makes the house nice and warm, too. Good crock pot dish!!!

Ingredients For turkey and bean chili

  • 1 pkg
    ground turkey
  • 2 c
    chopped onions, and italian, poblano or green peppers
  • 2 pkg
    powdered chili mix
  • 2 Tbsp
    italian seasoning (or oregano, basil, parsely)
  • 1 pkg
    pre-soaked red or pink or black beans, or....
  • 2 -3, 1lb can
    canned red, pink or black beans (or a combination of beans)
  • to taste dash
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • a few Tbsp
    olive oil
  • to taste dash
    salt and pepper
  • 2 or more c
    shredded cheese- sheddar, jack or pepper jack
  • 1 -2 c
    lt or regular sour cream ( amount depends on taste)

How To Make turkey and bean chili

  • 1
    chop onions, and peppers. add to heavy pot with a few TBS of olive oil. Saute until golden and soft. add seasonings and stir around to coat vegies and saute a few minutes. Don't burn!!

    add ground turkey. Saute and stir until turkey is brown and all mixed with the onions, peppers and seasonings. Add salt and pepper flakes to taste.

    add beans and mix adding 2-1 lb cans of crushed or chopped tomatoes. cover and cook over a low to med flame for several hours until thickened and liquid is reduced to chili consistency. Serves 8-10 depending on serving size

    Serve hot in bowls with shredded cheddar or jack cheese and sour cream on top. Can use as a dip for stone ground tortilla chips. Can crush chips into bowl for added texture. Good on a cold day for lunch, supper or an afternoon snack. Good for a crowd and party with chips on the side!! Enjoy with a salad on the side.
