Our family's version of the Sloppy Joe using ground turkey in lieu of ground beef.

1 lb
ground turkey
1-2 large
white onions (chopped)
24 oz
tomato sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 clove
fresh garlic (minced)
1 tsp
yellow mustard
1 1/2 tsp
brown sugar


1 pkg
whole grain wheat buns

How to Make Sloppy TJs


  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • 2In a large saucepan, add a bit of olive or canola oil, maybe about a teaspoon. Add your onions and turkey. Brown turkey and be sure to break the meat up into small bits.
  • 3Once meat/onion mixture cooked, add remaining ingredients and simmer on medium to low heat for about 15 minutes until fully incorporated.
  • 4Butter buns and place butter side up on cookie sheet. PLace in oven for about 5 minutes or until desired crispness is reached.
  • 5Enjoy!
