The way we do Turkey at our house. tried and true for 40 years. I love how all the turkeys are so different. great :) xoxoxo

Ingredients

  • 1 large turkey, 20 lbs is good
  • 1 bottle ruby port wine
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons poulty seasoning or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons salt and pepper, to your taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

How To Make roast turkey

  • Step 1
    Pre heat your oven to 325*. wash and dry your turkey, salt and pepper the inside. Stuff if your going to, oil or butter your turkey and sprinkle with seasonings
  • Step 2
    Place prepared turkey UPside down on rack in roasting pan. Bake for at least 1 1/2 hours. Turn turkey over to its back and return to oven. You can start your basting anytime.
  • Step 3
    place 1 cup of wine and 1 stick of melted butter in measuring cup, baste away, I like to take a baster full of wine and butter and shoot it up inside the turkey thru the stuffing. omgosh. good. bake until done. add more butter and wine as needed, leftover wine? have a glass while dinner is cooking. :) Cover with foil if getting to brown.
  • Step 4
    I wasn't sure about using red wine with poulty, but my oh my, this is so delish and what a gravy it makes. you gotta trust me on this one. Time may vary.. enjoy
