Ingredients For red beans and rice w/ kielbasa

  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1 lb
    smoked turkey kielbasa, cut into 1/2"-pieces
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/2 c
    chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 c
    chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • 1 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1
    14.5 oz can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp
    seasoned salt
  • 2
    15 oz cans red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 c
    uncooked white rice
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    hot pepper sauce or to taste

How To Make red beans and rice w/ kielbasa

    In a 4-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add kielbasa, onions, peppers, celery, garlic powder, bay leaves and thyme. Cook 6 mins, stirring until veggies are tender.

    Stir in tomatoes and seasoned salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 20 min, stirring occasionally. Stir in beans, cover and simmer 10 min.

    Cook rice in water as directed. Remove bay leaves from bean mix. Serve bean mix over rice.Serve w/ hot pepper sauce.
