Trying to eat healthy and changing recipes up to make them healthier.Even my Granddaughters love this one and they are 3 and 4.

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet onions
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 pound ground turkey sausage
  • 10 ounces package frozen chopped spinach,thawed and drained
  • 5 slices day old bread
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 - egg beaten
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How To Make meaty stuffed onion

  • Step 1
    Peel your onions and cut 1/2 inch off top and bottoms. Place the onions in a large saucepan and cover with boiling water. Cook until tender, about 20 minutes, drain.
  • Step 2
    Cool them slightly and carefully remove the inside layers of the onions, separating into 8 individual shells and then drain on paper towels.
  • Step 3
    In a skillet, cook your turkey and sausage over medium heat until it is not pink then drain and add spinach to it and cook another 2 minutes. Remove and stir in the remaining ingredients. spoon into shells.
  • Step 4
    Put the onions in a greased 13x9 inch baking pan and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
