This is an easy/peasy way to take some shrimp, and come up with a wonderful starter, or just something to put together on a lazy afternoon, and eat all by yourself. Mix up the spices to suit your own particular tastes, and go for it. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 4 tablespoons sweet butter, unsalted
  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil
  • 2 cloves baked garlic, smashed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, kosher variety
  • 1/4 teaspoon hungarian paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 pound large fresh shrimp, shells removed, and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • OPTIONAL ITEMS
  • - arugula for a bed for the shrimp
  • - parmesan cheese, for topping

    PREP/PREPARE
  • Step 2
    A good heavy-bottom pan is perfect for this recipe. My recommendation would be cast iron.
  • Step 3
    Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  • Step 4
    Add the butter, oil, and smashed garlic to a pan over high heat, and stir to combine.
  • Step 5
    When it comes to heat, add the shrimp.
  • Step 6
    Mix the salt, paprika, white pepper, and cayenne together, and sprinkle on the shrimp.
  • Step 7
    Keep the pan active, by stirring and flipping the shrimp.
  • Step 8
    Take off the heat, when the shrimp begin to brown, about 3 – 5 minutes, and then add the lemon juice.

    Place on a bed of arugula, drizzle with some of the pan sauce, and sprinkle with parmesan, if using. Enjoy.
