Ingredients

  • 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced and crushed with a little salt
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz. each) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns, crushed lightly
  • - salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make domatesli karides sote (shrimp & tomatoes-turkish)

  • Step 1
    Saute the onion with butter in a large skillet over medium high heat for about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, tomato, sugar, basil, parsley, bay leaf and peppercorns. Reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until sauce thickens.
  • Step 2
    Add shrimp, salt and pepper. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove the bay leaf and discard.
  • Step 3
    Serve.
