barbecued shrimp (georgia style)

Great way to cook shrimp if you have the 2 to 3 hours to let them marinade. Easy and delicious! Not really barbecue since it's done in the oven, but this is made often in Georgia and called "barbecue" shrimp.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 - bay leaves, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 dashes hot sauce
  • 2 dashes worcestershire sauce
  • 3 pounds unpeeled large fresh shrimp

How To Make barbecued shrimp (georgia style)

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients except shrimp in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Rinse the shrimp; drain. Place in an ungreased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Pour the butter mixture over the shrimp. Cover and chill 2 to 3 hours.
  • Step 3
    Uncover and bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and the shells start to pull away, basting occasionally.
