Slow Cooker Crock Pot


  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 c
    red onions, chopped
  • 1 c
    poblano peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 3 large
    cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • ·
    freshly ground black pepper, to taste (i always use mixed peppercorns)
  • 1 c
  • 3/4 c
    your favorite bbq sauce
  • 1/4 c
    low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    prepared yellow mustard, or more to taste
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar, such as demerara
  • 1 Tbsp
    cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 4 large
    toasted hamburger buns
  • 4 slice

How to Make Slow Cooker BBQ Sloppy Joe


  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef, onion and poblano pepper. Cook until the beef is almost done. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Transfer meat mixture into a colander; drain fat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ketchup, BBQ sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce, mustard, brown sugar, cider vinegar, and chili powder; whisk until well blended.
  3. Transfer beef mixture to slow cooker and pour over the BBQ sauce mixture. Stir very well, close the lid and set timer on “Low” for 4 hours.
  4. About 5 minutes before the end of cooking time, grill hamburger buns. When cooking time is up, stir again before spooning over the buns. Place a slice of cheese and enjoy!
