Sandwich Essentials: Cheesy English Muffin BLT

Andy Anderson !

I love playing about with a classic recipe, and the BLT is about as classic as you can get.

I'm missing one or two of my usual photos; however, I was building these for a group of friends, and had my hands full.

In this recipe, I’m using a thick English muffin, two kinds of yummy cheeses, and, if you’re willing to take a chance, a “special” sauce.

So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How to Make Sandwich Essentials: Cheesy English Muffin BLT

  2. Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  3. Add the bacon to a sauté pan over medium heat, and cook on both sides, until the fat starts to render, and it begins to brown, about 2 – 3 minutes per side.
  4. Drain on some paper towels, and reserve.
  5. Toast the English muffin, and then add provolone to one half of the muffin, and the cheddar to the other.
  6. Place under a broiler until the cheese is bubbly, and beginning to brown in spots, about 1 – 2 minutes.
  7. Add the bib (or other lettuce) and a tomato slice to the bottom half of the English muffin.
  8. Add two slices of bacon, a bit more lettuce, and another slice of tomato.
  9. Top with remaining two slices of bacon, a bit more lettuce, another thin slice of tomato, and the sauce.
  10. Chef’s Note: You could use some mayo (that would be traditional), or you could really kick it up and try some avocado sauce. Here’s the recipe:
