sammie essentials: customized cuban sandwich
My inspiration for this recipe came from the Cubano sandwich. That awesome creation from Havana. I changed a few things around, and added my own touches. But, in the end, this is an awesome sandwich with a lot of wonderful flavors. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients
- PLAN/PURCHASE
- 1 large ciabatta roll, about 12-inches (30cm) in length
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, plain variety
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard, i prefer french’s
- 4 slices swiss cheese
- 4 ounces cooked pork, or deli sliced pork
- 1 large dill pickle, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces deli ham, thinly sliced
- 1 small tomato, thinly sliced

Step 1PREP/PREPARE

Step 2Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

Step 3Slice the ciabatta roll in half, lengthwise.

Step 4Mix the mustard and mayonnaise together, and add half to the bottom of the ciabatta roll.

Step 5Add two pieces of the swiss cheese to the bottom roll.

Step 6Add the pork to the top of the cheese.

Step 7I used smoked pork tenderloin, but sliced deli pork will work just fine.

Step 8Add the pickle.

Step 9Add the ham.

Step 10Add the tomato.

Step 11Add the remaining two slices of swiss cheese.

Step 12Brush the remaining mustard/mayo mixture to the top of the roll, place on top, and then wrap tightly in a piece of parchment paper.

Step 13Place in a preheated 250f (120c) oven for about 45 minutes.

Step 14PLATE/PRESENT

Step 15Serve while hot with some chips or fries. Enjoy.
