    vegetable cooking spray
  • 2 tsp
    butter, unsalted
  • 1/2 c
    sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 tsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2/3 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    chicken bouillon granules
  • 1/2 c
    cooked chicken, skinned and chopped
  • 4 slice
    whole wheat bread, toasted

How to Make Hot Chicken Sandwiches

Step-by-Step

  1. Coat a skillet with cooking spray, and add butter; place over medium-high heat until butter melts.
  2. Add mushrooms, and cook 3 to 4 minutes or until tender, stirring often. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stirring well.
  3. Add water and bouillon granules; cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes or until mixture is thickened.
  4. Reduce heat to low; add chicken to mixture, and simmer 2 to 3 minutes or until chicken is thoroughly heated. Spoon chicken mixture evenly over toast slices.
