bagel essentials: 3-cheese, 2-meat bagel pizza

Last night I could not decide if I wanted a wood-fired pizza, or a good juicy burger. So, I decided to combine them and make a bagel pizza. Anyway, that is my story, and I am sticking to it. After a few experiments, I came up with this recipe. They are easy to make, and taste ooey/gooey good. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For bagel essentials: 3-cheese, 2-meat bagel pizza

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1 lg
    plain egg bagel, cut in half, and toasted
  • 2 oz
    pizza sauce, your choice
  • 1 slice
    provolone cheese, or equivalent grated, about 1 ounce
  • 1 slice
    mozzarella cheese, or equivalent grated, about 1 ounce
  • 2 Tbsp
    parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 6 - 8 slice
    pepperoni
  • 3 oz
    ground italian sausage, spicy variety

    Egg bagels are the best for this recipe, because when you place it under the broiler, that sauce melts into the bread and makes the insides ooey/gooey, and the outsides nice and crisp.

    Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).

    Flatten out the Italian sausage into a disk the size of your bagel, and cook over medium heat, until cooked through.

    While the sausage is cooking, put the bagel halves into the toaster, then remove and add the tomato sauce to both cut sides, add a slice of cheese to each half, sprinkle with a bit of parmesan, and place the pepperoni on the bottom half of the bagel.

    Place the bagel under the broiler until the cheese is toasty, and the pepperoni’s are crisp.

    Add the Italian sausage to the bottom half (over the pepperoni’s) Put on the top, and cut in half.

    Serve while still nice and toasty, by themselves, or maybe some chips. Enjoy.
