For the onion lover... This is a recipe that is loaded with eating pleasure at a low price. I have had many people rave about how good it is and have asked for the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 6 large onions, spanish or vadalia, peeled
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, ground pork, or ground turkey (your choice)
  • 1 cup rice, instant
  • 1 - egg
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup milk

How To Make stuffed onions

  • Step 1
    Parboil onions in boiling salted water for about 20 minutes.
  • Step 2
    when they are done enough to remove the center portion, do so, and chop the centers very fine.
  • Step 3
    Mix the cream cheese with the soup and set to the side.
  • Step 4
    In another bowl, mix chopped onion, meat, rice, egg, and half of the cream cheese mixture.
  • Step 5
    Stuff onion with the meat mixture and place in a buttered casserole dish, and bake at 350 degrees for about 30 to 35 minutes (until meat mixture is done).
  • Step 6
    Add milk to the remaining cream cheese mixture and heat to a boiling point. Be careful not to scorch it. Use as a gravy to put atop the stuffed onions. Enjoy!
