I am the chef for our church and feed a family of 8 daily! Everything I make is "BIG"!! This one I threw together tonight to feed 40+ at church lunch tomorrow by the grace of God and the whole family is drooling already with 10 more hours to cook!!

Ingredients

  • 6 cups dry pinto beans (rinsed)
  • 26 cups water
  • 1 package raw bacon (diced)
  • 1 package ham steak (bone in) (diced)
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 4 tablespoons chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 4-5 dashes liquid smoke (be generous)

How To Make smokey ham & beans

  • Step 1
    Dice your ham, raw bacon & onion. Rinse your beans. Throw it all in a roasting oven and cook for 10-12 hours on 350. I stir ocassionaly. Ive never had to add more water, but keep an eye on that when you stir!
  • Step 2
    I save my bacon slices in a baggie in the freezer from my Candy's Signature Smoked MeatLoaf dicing this double smoked bacon up into this recipe makes it that much more amazing!! ***if you use the smoked bacon from the meatloaf recipe, DO NOT use the liquid smoke in this recipe as you will not need it!***
