I have always used an electric skillet for this but you can use a large non-stick skillet on your stovetop.

Ingredients

medium onion, sliced
1/4 c
celery, diced
2 Tbsp
vegetable oil
4 large
pork chops
1 1/2 c
water
2 Tbsp
brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
pepper
2 can(s)
tomato sauce 8 oz.
1 c
long grain white rice

MY KIDS GREW UP ON THIS AND THEIR DAD ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT. I CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE I GOT THE RECIPE, JUST THAT IT BECAME A FAVORITE IN OUR HOUSEHOLD.

How to Make Skillet Pork Chops and Rice

Step-by-Step

  • 1Saute onion and celery lightly in vegetable oil. Sprinkle chops with salt and pepper to taste.
    Add chops to skillet and brown on both sides. Then remove and set aside.
  • 2Add water, brown sugar, salt, pepper and 1 1/2 cups of the tomato sauce. Heat and stir bringing to a boil. Add rice and stir. There will be a lot of liquid but the rice will absorb it. Put chops into this mixture.
  • 3Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Pour the remaining 1/2 cup tomato sauce over chops and simmer 15 minutes longer.
