This is an easy hearty casserole that can feed a big family or a small one several times.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds hot or mild cooked sausage
  • 2 cans crescent rolls
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar monterrey jack blend cheese
  • 2 cans (7 oz. cans) mushroom pieces well drained

How To Make sausage three cheese casserole

  • Step 1
Heat oven to 375 degrees. In large skillet cook sausage. When about 2/3 of the way fully cooked add onion, green peppers and mushrooms. Cook until sausage is fully cooked. Drain off fat.
  • Step 2
While sausage is cooking unroll one can of crescent rolls into the bottom of a 9x13 in ungreased dish. I use a glass on for this recipe. Press out rolls to cover the bottom and about 1/2 inch up sides of dish.
  • Step 3
While sausage mixture is still hot place in a large mixing bowl and add cream cheese. Mix well until cream cheese is melted.Spread mixture over bottom layer of crescent rolls evenly. Sprinkle shredded cheese over top.
  • Step 4
Unroll second can of crescent rolls and place ontop of cheese layer. Smooth dough around to cover as well as you can. This probably wont cover completely but that is ok. I like the way the cheese shows through the seams of the rolls.Place in oven and cook 35 to 40 minutes or until top layer of crescent rolls are golden brown and beautiful.:) Remove from oven and allow to sit for five to ten minutes. Enjoy!
