My mother use to make this for us .So when I married she gave me the recipe I make a few because this pie can be frozen

  • 1 1/4 lb
    ground pork
  • 1/2to3/4 c
    cold water
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 c
    finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried savoury
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried rosemary
  • 1/4 tsp
    grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch
  • ·
    salt to taste
  • 1/4 c
    old fashion rolled oats
  • ·
    pastry for double crust

How to Make Pork Pie


  1. Combine pork and water and bring to a boil Stir in next 8 ingredients Cover and cook over medium to low heat for about one and a half hours stirring occasionally and adding more water as needed
  2. Half way through the cooking timeseason with salt and stir in the oats.Cook stiring for 1 to 2 minutes
  3. Preheat oven to 425 bake 15 minutes and reduce the heat to 375 bake another 25 minutes or until golden brown I like serving this with mashed potatoes and a veggie
