My mother use to make this for us .So when I married she gave me the recipe I make a few because this pie can be frozen

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 pounds ground pork
  • 1/2to3/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried savoury
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • - salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup old fashion rolled oats
  • - pastry for double crust

How To Make pork pie

  • Step 1
    Combine pork and water and bring to a boil Stir in next 8 ingredients Cover and cook over medium to low heat for about one and a half hours stirring occasionally and adding more water as needed
  • Step 2
    Half way through the cooking timeseason with salt and stir in the oats.Cook stiring for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Step 3
    Preheat oven to 425 bake 15 minutes and reduce the heat to 375 bake another 25 minutes or until golden brown I like serving this with mashed potatoes and a veggie
