You can glaze a pork chop with all kinds of sweet items. This glaze has a sweet/sour aspect to it that doesn’t overpower the taste of the pork chop; on the contrary, it compliments it. It’s a simple recipe to assemble, and is perfect when you’re looking for a simple dinner that is not overly complicated, yet taste yummy. Ingredients

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • THE GLAZE
  • 1/4 cup fresh clover honey
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 1 medium cinnamon stick
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • THE PORK CHOPS
  • 2 large pork chops, thick cut, bone in
  • 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
  • - salt, kosher variety, to taste
  • - black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • ADDITIONAL ITEMS
  • - toasted walnuts, chopped
  • - crumbled goat cheese

    PREP/PREPARE
  • Step 2
    THE GLAZE
  • Step 3
    Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  • Step 4
    Combine the glaze ingredients in a small saucepan, over medium-low heat.
  • Step 5
    Allow the ingredients to come to a slow, slow simmer.
  • Step 6
    Simmer and occasionally stir for about 20 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Remove from the heat and reserve.
  • Step 8
    THE PORK CHOP
  • Step 9
    Gather your ingredients (miss en place).
  • Step 10
    Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel, and then brush with the oil on both sides.

    Sprinkle both sides with some salt and pepper.

    Place a skillet over medium-high heat, and wait for it to come up to temperature.

    Chef’s Note: I am using a grill pan; however, any good skillet will do just fine.

    Add the pork chops, and then brush with some of the reserved glaze.
  • Step 15
    Wait until the pork chops release easily from the pan, and then flip, about 2 – 3 minutes.

    Brush with the glaze, and wait about 2 minutes.

    About every 2 minutes flip the pork chops and glaze, until they are cooked through.
  • Step 18
    Chef’s Note: This process will take a total of about 15 minutes, so you will be flipping and glazing about 5 or 6 times.

    Add to a pre-warmed plate, and garnish with the toasted walnuts and goat cheese, if using, and maybe a bit of additional thick balsamic vinegar. Enjoy.
