Well, it's that time of year... my kitchen sees the most action with apples. We love apples. They are delicious, especially when incorporating them into a meal. And they are great to add flavor to pork chops. This recipe is a family fave and my husband's favorite way to eat pork chops. You can even top the chutney on a pork roast. Yes, fall is in the air!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

If you're looking for a way to elevate pork chops, try this recipe. The sweet, tart, and tangy over the savory pork chops was wonderful. After simmering, the pears and apples are soft and tender. When mixed with the cranberries, brown sugar, ginger, and spices, they create a thick and chunky chutney. You could use the apple and pear chutney for more than just pork chops. It would be delicious over baked brie, too.

How To Make pork chops with apple and pear chutney

Test Kitchen Tips
When browning the pork chops, make sure not to crowd the pan so the pork can brown and the juices seal in. We cooked them for 5 1/2 minutes on each side over medium heat until they reached 145 degrees F.
  • Melt butter in a heavy pot.
    Step 1
Prepare the chutney. Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add chopped apples and pears; saute.
    Step 2
Add the apples and pears. Saute about 5 minutes.
  • Add cranberries, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ginger, salt, and allspice.
    Step 3
Add the cranberries, vinegar, brown sugar, crystallized ginger, salt, and allspice. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer.
    Step 4
Reduce the heat and allow to simmer while preparing pork chops, stirring occasionally.
  • In another bowl, mix salt, coriander, pepper, and garlic.
    Step 5
In a small bowl mix together salt, peppers, coriander, and minced garlic.
  • Heat oil and sprinkle seasoning on both sides of the pork chops.
    Step 6
Heat olive oil in a large grilling skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle both sides of the pork chops with the dry seasoning mixture.
  • Brown 4 - 6 minutes on one side.
    Step 7
Add pork to heated skillet and cook 4-6 minutes on one side.
  • Flip and cook the other side.
    Step 8
Flip and cook another 4 - 6 minutes on the other side until done. Can cook on the grill outdoors, or an electric grill as well.
  • Spoon chutney over the pork chops.
    Step 9
Serve pork chops with chutney atop. Serve with asparagus, a side of wild rice, and a fresh crisp salad.
