Ingredients
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup dry sherry
- 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 5-7 pounds fully cooked ham half
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon cold water
How To Make ham royal
-
Step 1Combine the first 5 ingredients in a bowl. Prick the ham several times with a fork. Place the ham in a large heavy-duty zip-top plastic bag. Pour the marinade mixture over the ham. Seal bag securely; place in a large bowl. Marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours, turning occasionally.
-
Step 2Remove the ham from the marinade, reserving marinade. Place ham, fat side up, in a shallow roasting pan lined with heavy-duty aluminum foil Pour the reserved marinade over the ham. Insert a meat thermometer, making sure it does not touch fat or bone. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 1 hour and 40 minutes or until the thermometer registers 140°, basting frequently.
-
Step 3Remove ham to a serving platter, reserving liquid in pan. Set aside and keep warm. Skim fat from the liquid. Pour the liquid into a small saucepan; bring to a boil.
-
Step 4Combine the cornstarch and water. Stir well. Add to the liquid; cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute or until the mixture is thickened and bubbly. Serve the ham with the sauce.
