Giniling Guisado is sauteed ground pork cooked in tomato sauce with potatoes, carrots and bell peppers.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground pork
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cups red or green (or a mix) bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • - salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make ginning guisado (pork picadillo)

  • Step 1
    Marinate the ground meat in soy sauce and lemon juice, set aside for 30 -60 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Heat oil in large skillet and saute garlic, onion and 2/3 of the bell peppers, until onion starts to soften.
  • Step 3
    Add the meat and cook about 6- 10 minutes. Add the potatoes and carrots, and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Mix in the tomato sauce and beef broth. Let simmer for 12 - 15 minutes. Add a cup of water if it's drying out before the potatoes and carrots are cooked.
  • Step 5
    Mix in the remaining 1/3 bell peppers and season with salt and pepper. Heat through and serve over rice.
