Ingredients
- 1-2 pound ham slices
- 1 large head green cabbage
- 4 large idaho potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 6 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
How To Make ellen's "new" new england boiled dinner

Step 1Cut cabbage into eight wedges and place in a large pot of water. Bring to a boil and reduce heat.

Step 2Add ham slices to pot, cover and simmer for one hour.

Step 3Add potatoes, salt and pepper, and caraway seeds, and continue simmering for another hour, or until cabbage and potatoes are tender.
