dad's green beans
This was a favorite recipe that my Dad always made for family dinners and especially Thanksgiving and Christmas traditionally. I am making sure it gets carried on by the family.

Ingredients
- 3-4 pounds fresh, frozen or canned green beans (not french style)
- 1 medium yellow cooking onion
- 1 cup chopped salt pork, bacon or ham pieces
- 1 pound baby red potatoes or quartered med. red potatoes
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil or bacon grease
- 1 teaspoon lawry's seasoning salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
How To Make dad's green beans
-
Step 1sauté onions, oil, and meat for 3-4 minutes then add the remaining ingredients and combine together.
-
Step 2cover and bring to the point of steam escaping over medium heat. Turn heat to simmer for 20 minutes. During this time do not peek. NOTE: This method is only one type you can use. You can also just cook it all together over medium heat with no lid. I use waterless cookware and this method is the easiest for that style. You do not need to add any liquid in either method of cooking.
