Ingredients

  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 4
    pork chops, 1 inch thick
  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 4
    orange slices
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground allspice
  • 1 c
    hot water
  • 1/4 c
    orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    bourbon
  • 1/4 c
    raisins

How to Make Bourbon Braised Pork Chops

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine flour, salt and pepper; dredge pork chops in flour mixture.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; brown chops on both sides.
  3. Place an orange slice on top of each chop.
  4. Combine brown sugar, cornstarch and allspice in a small saucepan, gradually stir in water.
  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
  6. Remove from heat; stir in orange juice, bourbon and raisins.
  7. Cover and reduce heat, simmer 1 hour.
