I remember this from my school days. This was one of the few dishes that everyone would eat in the cafeteria! This is my vegetarian stove top version. (You can use ground beef in place of the Recipe Crumbles™ if you prefer.)

  • - small amount of vegetable oil
  • 1 large can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes

How To Make stove top johnny marzetti

  • Step 1
Cook macaroni al dente (You want it slightly under done so it absorbs the sauce - it will finish cooking when you add the sauce and simmer it)
  • Step 2
While macaroni is cooking, saute onion and green pepper in oil. Add Recipe Crumbles™ (or cooked ground beef) and heat through.
  • Step 3
Add diced tomatoes and seasonings and heat through. (If necesssary, turn heat to low and keep warm until macaroni is done.)
  • Step 4
When macaroni is done, drain and return to pot. Mix in onion mixture and tomato juice. Return to stove and simmer for 10 minutes, check seasoning and serve. Garnish with cheese if you like.
