sausagetti
This is one of my husband's favourite ways to enjoy hot Italian sausages. Lovely served over rice or pasta. We've been enjoying this lovely dish for over 35 years. It's quick and easy to make, tastes great and best of all you control the heat.

- 1 large sweet onion, coarsley chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 - 1 1/2 tablespoons peanut oil
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 2 - 3 tablespoons franks hot sauce
- 2 - 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 (650ml) jars, tomato sauce, tomato & basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons parmesan, freshly shredded
- noodles of your choice
How To Make sausagetti
-
Step 1In a large pan, add oil and fry onions over medium heat for 5 minutes, then add the garlic and the sausage meat. Season with the salt and the sugar.
-
Step 2Cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until meat is cooked. Once meat is cooked drain the oil from the pan.
-
Step 3Add the tomato sauce, sugar, mustard and franks hot sauce, stir well and allow to simmer on lowest heat for 30 minutes. Stir frequently, add a little water if it gets to thick.
-
Step 4When ready, serve over noodles, rice or mashed potatoes. They all work well in this dish. If you like you can add additional Frank's hot sauce to the finished sauce.
