my beef lasagna
I love making this lasagna , it has 6 different cheeses in the layers , sometimes I will even add a layer of pepperoni too.

Classic winter comfort food! The flavors blend so well together and I loved the addition of cottage cheese rather than ricotta. What I really love, though, is the unique way to boil the noodles. Genius... I may never go back to my old way again!

Ingredients
- 1 pound lean hamburger ; cooked & drained
- 1 large onion ; diced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- - salt and pepper
- 3 (6oz) cans tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cans water
- 14 1/2 ounces diced tomatoes
- 2 1/4 ounces black olives ; sliced
- 8 - lasagna noodles
- 24 ounces cottage cheese, small curd
- 2 cups shredded cheese blend (monterey jack, cheddar,queso quesadilla & asadero cheese)
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese
How To Make my beef lasagna

Step 1In a large frying pan cook the hamburger and onions until the hamburger is completely cooked and the onions are tender , lightly season with garlic powder and salt & pepper.

Step 2To the cooked meat mixture add the spices, tomato paste , diced tomatoes , black olives and the cans of water and mix together.

Step 3Simmer the sauce on medium low heat for 30 minutes.

Step 4Meanwhile place your dry lasagna noodles in a 8x11" dish and pour BOILING HOT water over top of them to get them to soften up. ( This is an easy way to keep the noodles intact for assembly) Drain once they have softened. Takes about 20 minutes or so , it's alright if they are aldente')

Step 5Prepare your mozzarella cheese into thin slices.

Step 6Start the assembly of your lasagna with sauce mixture on the bottom of an 8x11" dish.

Step 7Than take 4 of the softened lasagna noodles and layer on top of the sauce.

Step 8Than layer 1/2 of the container of the cottage cheese on top noodles.

Step 9Top the cottage cheese layer with the slices of mozzarella cheese.

Step 10Repeat all the layering steps and top the final step with the blended cheese mixture.

Step 11Bake in a preheated oven @ 350° for 45 minutes. Let sit and rest for atleast 10 minutes before you cut into the baked lasagna....enjoy!!
