This recipe is a variation of Dairyland Country Casserole from Recipelion.com. I made a few changes that suit me better, and I just know it's going to be so yummy! I will post a picture when I make it.

Ingredients For midwest country casserole

  • 8 oz
    egg noodles
  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 2 c
    tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c
    onion, chopped fine
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 md
    green pepper, chopped
  • 8 oz
    chive cream cheese
  • 1 c
    cottage cheese, small curd
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1 c
    monterey jack cheese
  • 2 c
    bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter, melted

How To Make midwest country casserole

    Cook noodles as per package instructions. Drain and set aside.

    In a large skillet, brown the beef; drain. Add tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion, garlic, and green pepper. Salt to taste. Simmer for about 10 minutes.

    Combine the cream cheese, cottage cheese, and sour cream in a large bowl.

    Butter or spray a large casserole dish (9x13). Pour in half of the noodles. Add the cheese and sour cream mixture and cover with remaining noodles. Top with beef mixture.

    Top casserole with Monterey jack cheese. Combine bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over cheese.

    Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for about 40 minutes or until bubbly and bread crumbs are browned.
