low fat spaghetti sauce

Both my husband and I have to eat low fat most of the time so I thought I would post one of our recent recipes for Spaghetti sauce..

Ingredients

  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or more to taste)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1/2 medium green bell pepper, chopped fine
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes with juice or 16oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 6 ounce tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 - beef bouillon, cubes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make low fat spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
    Crumble and brown ground beef. Drain off all fat; wipe out frying pan.
  • Step 2
    Turn beef into colander, and rinse with cold water. Pat dry with paper towel; return to pan.
  • Step 3
    Add garlic, onion, pepper, mushrooms and cook over medium low heat, stirring as necessary until veggies are soft.
  • Step 4
    Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Add seasonings and simmer until hot throughout. Adjust seasonings to taste and serve over pasta with low fat Parmesan sprinkled over.
