been trying to make more thing with fresh veggies etc., plus being healthier, hubby loves the recipes I've been inventing lately. could never find a canned spaghetti / pasta sauce that he really loved.. we've discussed what he does like in a sauce, & for one figured out he doesnt care much for a lot of oregano, which is usually found in canned sauses & most recipes. so this one does have some oregano, but only whats in the one can of tomatoes. I gotta brag a bit, this sauce is yummy, really fresh tasting even tho some stuff is canned. so here ya go ::::

Ingredients

  • pound ground beef
  • small onion - chopped
  • 1/2 small green pepper chopped
  • 2 medium fresh tomatoes - chopped
  • 3 stalks celery , sliced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes w/garlic,basil & oregano
  • 1 can 6 oz. tomato paste
  • 1 can 6 to 12 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water

How To Make gramma cathy’s original spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
    In large skillet brown ground beef and celery, fresh tomatoes, onion & green pepper. Add salt & pepper to taste. Place in slow cooker & add rest of ingredients. Cook low for 6 hours until vegetables are done. Can also be cooked on stove top on low in large kettle.
  • Step 2
    seasonings can be adjusted to personal taste.
