We love Italian food, so it's no surprise that when I cook, it's usually tomato based or highly seasoned with garlic and Italian seasonings. I chose to use ground turkey with this recipe for a change of the Italian sausage I normally use.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 6 cloves finely minced fresh garlic
  • 2 medium onions, finely diced
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 - lasagna noodles, cooked per package directions
  • 2 tablespoons italian seasoning, divided
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 small container, part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups italian blend cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

How To Make cheesy turkey lasagna

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Bring a large pot to boil and salt generously. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Bring a medium sized pot to medium-low heat and add the marinara sauce; cover.
  • Step 2
In a large skillet, brown turkey, 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning, salt and pepper to taste, and half of the diced onions and minced garlic. Put the other half of the Italian seasoning and onion/garlic mixture into the marinara sauce, stir, cover, and let simmer. Cook turkey until meat is no longer pink. Drain on paper towel lined plates if there is a lot of grease. Add the meat to the marinara sauce and mix well.
  • Step 3
While the turkey is cooking, in a medium-sized bowl, combine the cheeses and mix well.
  • Step 4
Lightly spray a 1.5-2 qt. baking dish with cooking spray. Add about 2-4 tablespoons of the marinara mixture on the bottom.
  • Step 5
Layer 2-3 lasagna noodles on top of the marinara sauce. Add provolone cheese and dot with the ricotta mixture.
  • Step 6
Add a generous portion of the meat sauce.
  • Step 7
Layer lasagna noodles over the meat sauce and repeat step 5.
  • Step 8
Place your baking dish on a cookie sheet to prevent any messes in the oven. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until cheese is nice and bubbly or brown on top.
