When I first got married and started cooking, I did ALOT of Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger Mac. One day I realized that I could make this at home and it would be much healthier and even better! I was right! Feel free to adjust seasonings as you wish and don't be afraid to try different cheeses. Tonight I made it with medium cheddar and swiss. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 ounces can tomatoes, diced
  • 6 ounces can tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons thyme or italian seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon each salt and black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups dry elbow macaroni
  • 1 to 2 cups water
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 to 2 cups grated cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, monterey jack, swiss, ect...

How To Make cheeseburger mac

  • Step 1
In a large pan or dutch oven, brown ground beef in oil and drain. Add onions and garlic and saute a few minutes until onions are tender.
  • Step 2
Add tomatoes, paste, thyme or italian seasonings, paprika, salt and pepper. Stir until well combined and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
Add elbow macaroni and enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and cover pan. Make sure to stir occasionally to keep pasta from sticking to bottom of pan. Simmer for about 10 minutes or until pasta is done.
  • Step 4
Add cream cheese and stir until combined. Add other cheeses and stir lightly until mixed.
