This is what Ohioan kids thought was Spanish food...we got it at school cafeteria in the late 50's and 60's. This is a recipe from my late Mother-in-law. Everyone in the family loves it, and now her recipe is being enjoyed by her great Grandkids.It doesn't seem like it will make as much as it will.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound good ground beef
  • 2 medium yellow onions, chopped fine
  • 1 cup celery, chopped fine
  • 1 cup uncooked, long grain rice, rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 6 cups tomatoes, crushed (with hands is fine) and the juice

  • Step 1
    Mix all together and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, making sure rice and celery is done. If you have a food processor, the chopping is quicker, but get crushed tomatoes, or just crush them with you hand.
