Ingredients
- 2 cans (6 1/2 ounces each) or 12 ounces fresh chopped clams. if canned, drained.
- 2 - large eggs
- 1 cup saltine cracker crumbs (about 30 crackers)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion tops
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves, crumbled
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- - lemon slices and tartar sauce, optional
How To Make southern coastal clam cakes

Step 1In medium size bowl, combine clams, eggs, cracker crumbs, green onion tops, lemon juice, and thyme.

Step 2In large skillet, heat oil over moderate heat. Spoon the clam mixture into 4 mounds in the skillet. Cook clam patties until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes for each side.

Step 3Transfer clam patties to warm serving platter and garnish with lemon slices. Serve with Tartar Sauce while hot and delicious!
