Ingredients

1 c
chicken broth
1 can(s)
diced tomatoes - undrained
1/4 c
flour
2 Tbsp
olive oil
3/4 lb
polish sausage - cut into 1/2-in pieces

medium onion - diced
1
green bell pepper - diced
2
ribs celery - chopped
1
carrot - peeled and chopped
2 tsp
dried oregano
2 tsp
dried thyme
1/8 tsp
ground red pepper
1 c
white rice

How to Make Smoked Sausage Gumbo

Step-by-Step

  • 1sprinkle flour evenly over bottom of skillet.
    cook til flour begins to turn brown.
    reduce heat for 4 mins.
    stir in oil until smooth
  • 2chop celery and carrots
    dice onion and bell pepper
    cut sausage
  • 3combine broth and tomatoes in slow cooker
    add flour mixture to slow cooker
  • 4add sausage, onion, bell pepper, celery, carrot, oregano, thyme and ground red pepper to slow cooker
  • 5stir well, cover and cook on LOW for 4 1/2 - 5hrs
  • 6about 30 minutes before gumbo is ready, prepare rice.

    serve gumbo over rice for meal
