    vegetable oil or ghee
  • 4
    carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground turmeric
  • 1/2
    head cabbage, shredded
  • 5
    red potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces

How to Make Sauteed Cabbage and Potatoes Ethiopian-Style

Step-by-Step

  1. In a medium skillet, heat the oil or ghee over medium heat. Add the onion and carrots and saute in oil for approx. 5 minutes.
  2. Add seasonings and cabbage and cook another 15 - 20 minutes.
  3. Stir in red potatoes; cover and cook over medium-low for 15-20 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender.
