Ingredients

  • 12 - green cabbage leaves, softened in boiling water
  • FILLING
  • 1/2 pound ground chuck
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice
  • 1 large egg, well beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • - salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • SAUCE
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can chicken stock or water
  • 1 - grated tart apple
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper
  • - salt to taste
  • 1/4 - thyme

How To Make rusty's stuffed cabbage

  • Step 1
Mix together all the filling ingredients.
  • Step 2
Use about 1/3 cup mixture and shape into a small loaf that is not as wide as the cabbage leaves. Wrap up in a cabbage leaf, folding in the sides of the leaf to totally cover the filling as you roll it. Place it seam side down in a baking dish. Repeat until all leaves and filling are used.
  • Step 3
Make sauce by combining all the ingredients and cooking for 10 minutes. Pour over the pan of cabbage rolls and bake at 350 degrees F until filling is done.
