This is my adaptation of a recipe that we used to make when I worked at a Famous Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups small, peeled and deveined raw shrimp
  • 3 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped bell pepper
  • 4 tablespoons bacon grease
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershite sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

How To Make pattycake's shrimp gravy for shrimp and grits

  • Step 1
    In skillet, fry onions and peppers in bacon grease. When onion is golden, add shirmp and stir around several times.
  • Step 2
    Add about 3/4 cup of water. Simmer 2-3 minutes and thicken with the cornstarch and a little water made into a paste.
  • Step 3
    Add seasonings, Worcestershite sauce and ketchup. Cook slowly til thickened. Serve over creamy grits.
