My Grandma was telling me about how her mom never told her or her sister that she was 100% german, because in the 40's people were treated badly and had swastikas slapped on their back if they had a German background because people were mad at the Germans. My Grandma didn't find out her mother was 100% German until after her mother had died and she went to visit her mom's sister while doing some research for her genealogy. This recipe is from my Great Grandma. My Grandma grew up eating it, and so did her kids and so did I. I enjoyed this as a child.
