I make this quick rice dish and serve it with a Yogurt dip when i do not have time to cook

Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 can garbanzos juice drained and rinsed under cold running water
- 1/2 - onion sliced
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 - serrano chiles , feel free to reduce or increase according to taste
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 - bay leaf
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 3 - cloves
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste/ crushed
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste/ crushed
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt or to taste
- 3 1/2 cups water
How To Make garbanzo pulao (pilaf)

Step 1Wash and drain rice

Step 2Heat oil in a pot

Step 3Once oil is heated (not smoking)add the Cumin seeds,cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves.Saute till it sizzles a lil bit.

Step 4Add sliced onion and fry till light brown

Step 5Now add the ginger and garlic pastes with the serrano peppers

Step 6Once ontion is brown add the Garbanzo beans, fry for about 30 seconds

Step 7Add the drained rice and salt to the mix. Saute for about 1 minute

Step 8Add 31/2 cups of water and bring to boil

Step 9Once it comes to a boil reduce to low flame and cover till the rice is done. It will look nice and soft .

Step 10Serve by itself or with any chicken dish. I usually like to serve with a yougrt/ Cusomber Dip that we call Raita
