Now, if you've recently had the real thing, these will not suffice;but, if you are hungry for mushrooms, it's not spring, or you didn't find any, or you're unable to go this year; try this .......

Ingredients

  • 1 package saltine crackers; inner package, square/sleeve
  • 1 can mushroom pieces
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 can campbell's cr of mushroom soup
  • - splash of milk
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 stick butter

How To Make faux morels

  • Step 1
    Crush the crackers, using either a food processor or a rolling pin.....you don't want them super fine
  • Step 2
    gently whisk the eggs, just a stir really. add the eggs, mushroom pieces, cr of mushroom soup to the crackers and stir. add milk if needed, you don't want this too soupy, drier is better
  • Step 3
    melt the butter in the skillet, hot, but not smoking
  • Step 4
    drop by tablespoon fulls into hot oil brown on both sides until golden, drain on paper towel. These will even somewhat resemble mushrooms...enjoy
